It really fucks with my depression and I just had to finally quit Reddit because of it

Bathe yourself in their venom, acclimate to it. Accept the fact that they are your enemies.

The bigger picture is that everyone is forced to think and act like machines/psychopaths, to be 100% efficient and effective at accomplishing their goals, or else risk losing every competition (study, career, relationship, housing). Yet we were raised with values opposite to being machines/psychopaths. This causes cognitive dissonance: it seems wrong that everyone is ruthless and cold to eachother but that's the new meta and exactly the right thing to do.
