I'd really like to learn how to play poker well and be a suave gambler, but I am a neet.
Whats a skill you'd like to learn /r9k/? whats stopping you from learning it?

An instrument, drawing, photoshop, a new language. Being stopped by lack of motivation and lack of time. I did try learning Spanish for a few months but I eventually realised I would have to sink money or a lot more time and effort into it if I was ever gonna learn, and I wouldn't have anyone else to talk to anyway, so I decided to stop. Maybe I'll pick it up again in the future.

What I've noticed with doing things is that if you get started doing them, even just a little bit, as long as you're consistent, a sense of momentum will carry you farther than you previously thought possible

I would like to learn to fight with a sword but I have been unable to gather the confidence to contact HEMA groups near me.

Trips of truth. Swords are radical. HEMA spots are so far from me anyway, when I get a license and a car I'll try to contact them so I can learn. I want to sword fight. Life is so boring.

Nowadays good poker is mostly GTO grinding. You won't make any money without the math.

I want to learn how to camp. I want to be able to stay in the woods for a weekend, or later on a full week, staying by myself and not having to rely on civilization. I want to feel secure in my competence that I can just go away for a while like that, set traps or fish and such. I doubt I'll learn it though, my dysfunctional lifestyle keeps me in perpetual poverty to the point I compare the prices of oats and flour, so I'll probably have killed myself before I'm able to afford a tent and the basic equipment.

Poker isn't really gambling I'm afraid. Playing well is about making the move with on average the most long-term return. Big bluffs are cool, but there's a reason poker pros (as in, those who play for a living) are called "grinders".
