Normalfag checking in. I just want to send a message to the NEETs and hikkis on /r9k/.

It's amazing to me how some people just don't care about maintaining friendships. Friendships are so important to me because I didn't have a great life at home growing up, and my friends were like my family.

I don't understand how someone can be your friend for years, and then they get married, and start refusing to hangout or do anything. They just start going to church and hole up in their fucking suburban home.

I'm not the irresponsible friend who refuses to grow up and is a 'bad influence' either. I'm married. My wife and I are very happy.

Why do people turn 30 and start acting like it's impossible to come over and watch the game on Sunday? Why do people start acting like it's irresponsible to not have a packed calendar? I hit my buddy up to hang and he says he needs at least a weeks notice to have a chill session for an hour or two. I used to consider him like a brother, but now he treats me like a co-worker.

I know there are a lot of robots in here who want to be a 'normie', but people are cold hearted no matter what. The culture in America is sick. People only value money and following a template for their life. They forget that we only strive for success so we can enjoy it with the people we care about.

But people get so focused on the rat race that they forget about their so called 'brothers'.

If you have a friend who has been there with you for 8+ years, then you should stick with them and value them. Because solid friends are hard to find.

So whether you're NEET, hikki, normie, or striving to improve your situation: Don't forget that love and friendship is all we really have in this world. Nothing else matters.

It's his wife. Sorry. She has him by the balls now. With one if my friends I always checked a week in advance to see if his wife or family had any plans for the weekend to see if I could squeeze in a day or two a month.

A church leader... must be willing to take people into his home.

Maybe I'm not putting in any effort but I don't really care about my friends or derive enjoyment from interacting with them. I have no motivation to talk to them on discord or irl.
Perhaps I just need to find people I find more interesting? Not sure.
(And yet I say this whilst getting some financial help from them)

With age this mortality anxiety is becoming stronger. And so I want to fill all my time with bettering myself to leave something behind when I die. No time for fun.

HikiNEET here, I don't really have friendships, most people either hate me or coldly tolerate me, I'm useful enough to my parents that they tolerate my rent-free existing, but when I stop being useful I'll get tossed aside so y'know, it's better to keep that in mind with other people.
I feel bad for normies though since they experience what I experienced in highschool way later, so it hits them harder because they had a decade to get attached rather than a few months.
I'm sorry this happened to you OP, but at the very least you know now that people only care about you if you serve a purpose to them, you were there when they didn't have a wife and maybe kids, but now that they do they don't need you anymore.
To put it this way, A therapist only gets clients that are unhappy, when they're happy they don't go back to the therapist.
Needless to say, you need to have something individual that makes you happy, because people will leave you at some point, and trying to do something about it only makes things worse.
For me, it's drugs, being high makes life less shitty when I'm sad, and it makes life better when I'm happy.
Drugs won't abandon me, worst case, I won't be able to afford them and I'll huff lighter fluid to cope.
