Its just because of industrialization. No longer is it advantageous to have 12 kids as couple will die and the rest will be free workers for your farm / family business. Now instead of making profit from your kids, you lose insane amount of money from it, so even if you have kids it will be only a couple.

Countries where they haven't shifted to factories and office jobs, the birth rates are still high. Sure other things still play a role, but this is the main thing.

lives would be a lot better if you had to prove your own competence in raising children. Too many homes with unwanted kids. Too many homes that can't afford the kids they have. Spend half your life in poverty just trying to get the little shits off the ground, and then you get cancer or some shit and kick the bucket. Its not worth it. Especially now when kids are just refusing to get jobs and leave their parents homes.

Yea it's actually insane how me and an older coworker of mine make about the same wage. But I live like a richfag and might just retire before 45 without even trying. He goes home to more work, a chubby post-wall wife and two loud and expensive cum trophies. He says he likes coming in to work because he gets a pause from the misery at home. Meanwhile I can't wait to clock off and go home to my comfy room, gaming PC and home-cooked food from my mom.
I genuinely don't get why people still have kids. The normies I've talked about mostly say they were forced to have them by their wives, or they accidentally got their gfs pregnant. None of them seem to have actually wanted this stuff, but they also didn't put much thought into avoiding it. After speaking to them, I'm now scared to have PinV sex with a fertile woman, even if I wear a condom. But fortunately my personality kinds protects me from ever being in a situation where I could fuck up my life like that.

How do you intend to incentivize having children? The historical plan has always been to squeeze the working class so hard that they have to rely on their children to make their mortgage and bill payments for their multigenerational homes. That doesn't sound like a great time to me, but it is where the US is headed currently.
