Is it normal for therapists to like actually care about you? I don't really know what a client/therapist relationship is supposed to look like. My therapist is really nice and seems like she genuinely cares about me. But I worry about getting too attached. I mean I guess I already am. If I had to stop seeing her, I'd probably have a breakdown. She's the only person I have to really talk to.

i guess so. not only is that their job, if you talk with someone alot they're bound to eventually start caring about you.

no
most therapists you get in 2025 are awkward millennials who didn't get enough practice because everyone was going to boomers

Why would you get attached to your therapist?

She's really nice to me and really understanding. She also got kind of emotional recently when she was telling me that she cares about me and that I deserve to be happy. Idk not used to people treating me like that

i've been seeing my shrink for over 13 years now and that man is straight up my surrogate father and i love him and i would legitimately kill myself if something ever happened to him. it's okay to get attached to your therapist/psychiatrist as long as it's not romantic/sexual. that makes things *really* messy and hard to navigate. if you're attached, you're attached. what's important is that she seems to be invested and cares about you. that's important to have, if she ever changes practices, just make sure to get her info of where she's going so you can continue seeing her there

Very convincing argument lol. And she is cute but I don't have any strong romantic or sexual feelings for her. I just like talking to her a lot. Besides, she's married and having a kid in December. I guess my main worry is her moving far away or me being too broke to see her anymore. Which would be kind of devastating. Probably not blow my brains out devastating but still pretty bad

I guess that's true. My last two therapist kind of sucked and weren't like that though.
