night shift is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. it's isolating, very unhealthy, and *will* make you miserable. maybe not right away, maybe not for a few months, but the lack of sunlight will eventually bite you and from there it's a one way ticket to being miserable all the time. you can't get enough sun on the weekends to counteract it. you can't get enough through the week to counteract it. you're living opposite civilized society and it eats at you like nothing else.
let me put it this way: i really enjoy what i do. i wrangle machines all day, i get parts to within a thousandth of an inch or less, it's autism fuel like nothing else. i would have picked a different career had i known what night shift would do to me.
