Cause the majority are not those things. A significant minority are struggling, and this will have consequences in every election because they will desperately switch their vote to whoever speaks to their issues (job security, debt, housing crisis, etc).

There are regionally-important cities in Poland and Romania that have much higher standards of living than most of the US. 59% of americans don't even have $1k saved... You are a 3rd world country with some highly-developed 1st world cities here and there. And even within those cities you have problems with crime and gun violence. And a political system where corruption is legalized as lobbying, so both of your parties court billionaires.
