Yes and from my experience the only people who were relatively nice to me were people who just so happened to live here and weren't from/born here.
But your mileage may vary depending on what part of maryland you're from.
If you're in a poorer area like Baltimore then you're cooked.
If you're somewhere like Montgomery County or some richer area then maybe the people are nicer.
And she's probably nice since she said she isn't from here.
