Because the solution would require massive authoritarian reforms and Americans aren't ready to have that conversation.

Also the dirtiest countries are India and China. Do you feel like going to there and telling them that they're way of life is wrong? Good fucking luck with that.

Its over.

yeah, the change necessary on the US side is intolerable to the US people, and China would make our sacrifice meaningless. Instead of reversing climate change, we should instead just try to adapt to the changed environment.

Or we could just dump a bunch of iron oxide in the pacific ocean, as it's the chemical limiting factor in a big oceanic foodchain that would capture a shit ton of carbon at the bottom of the ocean, and essentially give us a global free pass on carbon emissions, but the politicians don't actually want to solve problems, they just want to control you.

I have never said that the weather can't change or can't be extreme. It can and does and always have. However, I don't think that paying more taxes and giving more power to jews can control the weather. Or if humans can control the weather, I am sure they don't need my help and are only using the technology to terrorize us. Either way I am not paying more taxes or giving more power to jews.

their emissions are going down because their population is going down and their exports are going down and the whole chinese system is collapsing. They're still the worst polluters, and it goes beyond just carbon emissions. They don't handle nuclear waste correctly and industrial pollution just gets dumped wherever they can make a bribe stick.

The "bait" was supposed to highlight that often the proposed solutions to environmental issues are ineffective at best and a moneygrab at most. The emphasis is placed on the buying angle.
My western european country has already conducted countless of studies that show that even if we got to a negative output (my country) it wouldnt matter for the big picture. Even if we proceed with specific industrial and rural concerns our environmentalist lobby has fought against, it wouldnt matter because of the industrial giants and industrializing africa. Yet, we are still encouraged in the same breath to drive electric cars.

Yes this is 100% accurate, greenwashing is very much real and greedy people will try to take advantage of crises to sell shit, especially if they're posed as easy solutions. However like I said it's a weird thing to bring up because it isn't related to climate change, which is a much, much more difficult problem to solve than plastic pollution.

> it wouldnt matter because of the industrial giants and industrializing africa.
So everyone falls back on this "logic" of blaming everyone else, and nothing gets done and we all cook alive. You do see that this is just a whiny excuse, right? If there's a problem we should do something about it instead of bitching about other people not doing enough.

Like I said, it was merely to emphasize the buying aspect. No need to repeat yourself so I have to repeat myself.
>So everyone falls back on this "logic" of blaming everyone else, and nothing gets done and we all cook alive. You do see that this is just a whiny excuse, right? If there's a problem we should do something about it instead of bitching about other people not doing enough.
I understand what you mean but our country is literally just that small.
The problem is mostly that we cant stop these giants and that we cant possibly forbid africa from industrializing.
It is not being whiny, it is acknowledging that we are already close to being a net negative co2 producer and that if ofcourse then doesnt matter because noone else puts in the effort. Once again this point merely is used for my final bit of that section which is that even if my government acknowledges we cant do anything else to improve things, we still should buy stuff lmao.

Well thanks to your country for actually trying. Unfortunately, mine is currently run by retards who just want to see the world burn, however I'm still trying to do my own small things to make the world very slightly better despite it all. I've planted and nurtured thousands of native trees and shrubs, hopefully they mostly survive and hold back the tide just an infinitesimally small amount.

> if my government acknowledges we cant do anything else to improve things, we still should buy stuff lmao.
It says a lot that the only real freedom we have most of the time is deciding which products to buy. This is a broader societal critique than just environmental issues though

If anyone cared about climate change they would start sending poison and diseases to Africa and India instead of money and food.
I suggest you start learning how to be hippy larpstead farmer. John Jeavon's How to Grow More Vegetables is a very brief overview of a closed system that is made to tackle the problem of food insecurity. Use his ideas but ignore the closed system part. The earth is a zero sum game. I know my life is worth more than thousands of other people's lives. So I will use seaweed and manure to build up my soil and not feel guilty about it.
Most people who claim they are worried about climate change are clearly liars. They live in the city/suburb. They are directly causing the problem. I believe they have no right to speak on the matter since they don't actually care and they are the cause. Anything they have to say is selfish nonsense. Probably boils down to something along the lines of "give me stuff". Literally kill yourself if you aren't going to be part of the solution. Grow heirloom and wild varieties of plants and put them up by canning, cellaring, fermenting, etc.. Stop buying food and using plastic. If it can't be made from metal, glass, fur, ceramic, leather, bone, wood, clay, shells, or cotton/hemp/flax/wool then you should not have it.

The world population reached 1 billion in 1804 and crossing 1.6 billion by 1900. It is currently 8 billion. The fact we are seeing the damage caused by these natural disasters increasing while the lives lost is decreasing show a worldwide proliferation of Homo Sapiens with survival training and resources to survive these events
There's still vast swaths of Canada or Australia where if a Hurricane hits nobody cares because nobody lives there, with casualties reaching the dozens. As humanity proliferates more, there will be less disasters that hit empty areas

Irrelevant to anything being discussed in this thread. And you are lying. They get food and money and clothing shipped from around the world to provide for useless worthless creatures I would not even count as human. They live in the wealthiest continent on the entire planet. They should have more food than they could even distribute. So why are they getting food produced from somewhere over 1 mile from where they are? Because they are lazy, bad, and harmful to the planet. If we can't ship them diseases the least we could do is an embargo. Kill anyone trying to bring them food and clothing. They should be supporting their own population solely by their own population.

very retarded
look, if you are on a sinking ship, and 100 other people are using buckets to scoop more water to dump INSIDE the boat, then you trying to use a bucket to remove it is a waste of your fucking time entirely
if one guy removes 1 bucket of water everytime he adds 3000 buckets of water (this is china) then no "isn't something good" is obviously not good and it's fucking stupid to pretend otherwise.

here is the bottom line with "climate change" okay?
1. i will not accept lower quality of life by any metric or measure, i will not accept more government control, rationing, bans, or anything fucking else
2. i will not care about spending our countries money "doing something" until EVERY OTHER COUNTRY ON EARTH is doing at LEAST what we are -ALREADY DOING- to the same value. there is zero point to disadvantaging yourself in the globohomo markets when you're the only one doing it and the impact it will have on the 'problem' is literally zero.
that means to solve it, you have to actually go to war with china, and india, and africa, and hold a nuke to their heads forever and continually force them to do it. because they will not otherwise.
nobody is willing to do that, so the discussion is already over.
and every single person that mentions climate change should be asked their opinion and financial relation to wind and solar energy. if they answer incorrectly, they should be banned from ever speaking with or funding climate issues ever again.

it doesn't allow you to live off grid, it -literally- still has to be connected to the power grid in 99% of all situations. it reduces your costs slightly, at the expense of having to pay through the nose to install and buy it in the first place, with a limited lifespan and no recyclability of the product, and mining and refining to create it caused just as much if not more pollution than if you'd just used fucking coal
know what would reduce your prices? nuclear. know what doesn't have a limited lifespan of only a few years? nuclear plants.
anyone talking about energy advocating for anything other than majority nuclear or geothermal - which we aren't capable of properly yet - is an unserious retard.
you cannot live "off grid" and still have electricity in the quantities you desire, its simply not fucking possible without being a billionaire. living off grid necessitates not having basic amenities like infinite power, infinite hot water.

You are a lying piece of shit.
>it doesn't allow you to live off grid, it -literally- still has to be connected to the power grid in 99% of all situations
Blatantly false. It allows you to live off the grid 100% of the time, and does not even connect to the grid at all. Boom, you are again proven to be a shit mouthed liar.
>it reduces your costs slightly, at the expense of having to pay through the nose to install and buy it in the first place, with a limited lifespan and no recyclability of the product, and mining and refining to create it caused just as much if not more pollution than if you'd just used fucking coal
Another lie. Costs are tremendously lower. It costs nothing to install(100% free) but time and negligible costs for some screws. Lifespan of panels is 50+ years(I'll probably be dead by then). Batteries can be maintained. Don't recycle, just use them and do maintenance or repairs as needed. How the fuck am I supposed use coal anyway? I don't live on a coal mine so how the fuck am I supposed to get coal? Sunshine just shines on its own without me doing anything. How the fuck am I supposed to burn coal for power? It's cheaper to spend millions on a coal plant than a few thousand to be set off grid OFF GRID for a lifetime? No, more lies as told by you.
>know what would reduce your prices? nuclear. know what doesn't have a limited lifespan of only a few years? nuclear plants.
OK sure, I guess coal plant is too cheap. Hey sir, please place an order for 100kg enriched uranium to my house. Also the rest of the stuff I need to build an off grid nuclear power plant that fits on my roof. Budget is a few thousand dollars.

OK, liar retard. Why would anyone want infinite power or infinite hot water for normal day to day operation of a typical house? I mean practically to live the way I currently do. I use a good bit less than 10 trillion gallons of hot water per day, and while I do have ceiling lights in my house, I have reduced my energy consumption to well under a trillion gigawatts.
A 5kw solar panel system is overkill for me, but some days in winter are a little cloudy or snowy so I sized it based on the least productive days. I have plenty of hot water because 500 gallons is a lot of propane. You are talking about more power usage than the entire galaxy uses. I'm talking about an off grid house. Two very different things. Definitely don't have to be a billionaire. Panels are a few hundred, inverter maybe $2k, batteries cost varies too much, but $5,000 is a generous amount.

Americans cannot think outside of themselves. Climate change is a collective problem and this hurts their ideological framing that unrestrained selfishness won't have negative outcomes.

And they demand that we do the same because, to them, dignity is offensive.

such a scenario is so far into our future that it is not even worth thinking about. using this as a reason to not address global warming is doomerism nonsense.

You literally have to be either retarded or a paid shill at this point to not see how self evidently real climate change is.

>self evidently
The world doesn't work that way. When something about very massive or very miniscule systems makes sense to your human intuition, it's because someone is pushing a narrative. Humans do not naturally evaluate things on that scale. The behaviors of particles and planets are not intuitive. It's not self-evident, you've just heard this narrative so many times that you accept it without evaluation.

The climate has been changing constantly for millions of years anon. Like any decent person I am against deforestation, against the line we have crossed with nature and building shit everywhere, against pollution, against sea pollution, against microplastics in everything. However, and I did a lot of my own reading to 'DYOR', there isn't really much of a consensus on CO2 being the climat change driver. And YET, politicians, almost unanimously, ONLY talk about CO2, and none of the other pollution and deforestation and extinctions we're all doing, which are much worse than CO2. Why? Because there is huge money in the CO2 talk.

Something like climate change is really hard to prove given how complex the Earth is. The Earth has gone through many different climate cycles in the past and could be going through one now. This doesn't mean humans aren't contributing but it also doesn't mean we can do much about it. The main issue with climate change policy is that it focuses on one metric at the cost of others. All they care about is CO2 and push objectively worse technology that causes more overall harm and/or handicaps their nation. A good example is wind power, ignoring the issues with birds and whales, wind turbines have a relatively low lifespan. They need replaced frequently which means more waste, they're also worse than something like nucleara which takes up significantly less space and produces very little waste. I am all for striving to make more efficient/cleaner powerplants/cars/etc but they should be a better alternative in other metrics besides CO2. To me, the fact that climate activists aren't pushing to have a Manhatten/Apollo style project for the creation of a fusion reactor is clear evidence current climate policy is nothing but a scam and/or a conspiracy to encourage a country to self handicap.

If it was as bad as they tell us, there would have been wars about this, twenty years ago.
Men would have marched into the countries who contribute the most pollution, and would have forced them to shut down factories, and stop dumping shit in the ocean.
All aid to the third world would have been stopped on the basis that there are simply too many people.
At least one big oil CEO would have come out and said "look bros, we need a planet to live on. I have kids too...".

The fact that none of that happened is incredibly peculiar.
The fact that solutions that clearly don't help (but do make money for someone) keep getting pushed is incredibly peculiar.
The fact that, for example, the Green party in my country is actually onboard with cutting down more trees to build more houses (and no one is seriously suggesting that maybe we need to stop inviting people into the country) is incredibly peculiar.

What am I supposed to think? They behave as if it isn't real.
