why do fathers work so hard and so tirelessly to give their kids a "good life" or "the life I never had" but then end up resenting them for not being hard workers themselves and complaining about how easy their life is and how much they take it for granted?

I think too many people take it too far and conflate living the good life with just buying whatever dumb shit their kid wants or spending their entire early life wiping their ass for them then wondering why they cant do shit when they are older and freeze up when a cashier so much as talks to them. People dont want to acknowledge that sometimes you gotta be uncomfortable and actually use your brain to become a well adjusted person, and that will inevitbaly lead to conflict which most people dont want because they would rather their son be a golem clone that exists solely to boost their ego. My dad may have been a bit of a bum but thankfully at least for me he set me up right for that, even if he went easy and kind of cucked out on my siblings. Had my beyond based grandfather too, thank god.

Unfortunately, most people just want power. So they don't really work hard to help you. They work hard for themselves, but then want to use the fact that they provided for you, which is the bare minimum and having a child was a choice they made. As leverage to have something over on you even if it's an emotional Pyrrhic victory.

I have developed paternal feelings for the kids of some of the women I have dated. Once that happens, a great amount of your thinking revolves around trying to give them the best start in life you can. It gives me great joy to see them overcome the circumstances of their birth and do better than I did. If your parents are critical of you being a lazy dumb fuck, its because you are a lazy dumb fuck wasting your life gooning, playing video games and chasing the discord tramps.

You can't avoid responsibility by calling everybody a narcissist. at some point, you will have to take a brutally honest, critical look at yourself.

Different Anon here. But I think you are an NPC. You are just running the Conservative/SelfHelp.exe script. Anon never complained about how bad his life was. Anon never blamed his parents for anything. Anon basically said, 'My dad is annoying because he wants me to work as hard as him.' For all that we know, Anon is a functioning member of society, but he just not a doctor or something.

I work in the service industry. I'm not allowed to complain if my feet hurt after a 10 hour shift. I don't have that hypercompetitive "I MUST MAKE ALL THE MONEY" drive in me I just want enough money to survive.

the ideal parent is someone who coddles not too much nor too little, someone who's strict but not too much nor too little
the perfect balance that will make the perfect child

but life is never perfect, no?

Probably resentment at the fact that they sacrificed their money and youth to raise a child who is now choosing to prioritize their youth and well-being, instead of working hard to support a family. Normies are simple, yet selfish and envious creatures who don't like it when someone deviates from the norm and takes unconventional (better) life choices, even when that someone is their own child. Sure, they once wanted their kid to have a happy childhood but at some point they want their kid to go down the same "be a wageslave for a post-wall wife and an annoying expensive kid" route they did.

> when I was your age, blah blah blah

When I was working two jobs and could barely afford rent, I've had boomers tell me I wasn't bootstrapping hard enough and should have three jobs. It's frustrating, but who cares. My father had a wife, two kids, and a house by twenty five but his circumstances were much different than mine.

that's definitely something I've noticed
there is absolutely no point at which it is okay to be unsatisfied or complain at all
probably product of a Catholic upbringing

Yeah, Boomers are pieces of shit. In fact pieces of shit are better than them. You can at least use pieces of shit to fertilize crops. Boomers are like cancer cells. They take everything given to them by their generous and decent parents and then steal from their own children while blaming them for their rotten position in life, while kicking them in the face.

Self-help/conservatives/boomers can just go fuck themselves. Pretty words rarely actually help someone change their materialistic well-being. Cheap words instead of action that might make them only rich instead of stupid rich. Dumb pussies. We should have let the virus just wipe them all out. Worthless people, less than worthless, detrimental to humanity at large.

A balance point can be made, it just requires a level of effort that frankly the majority of people do not want to deal with. Letting your kid find out and explore the world is a part of them growing up to be a well adjusted person and find their own way, but some take it too far and act like that means never being the grounding force they still need to keep their head straight and not get sucked up in a sea of bullshit. On the flipside showing them that life will not be fair and they will almost certainly have to do things they wont like or are uncomfortable doing is important for toughening them up enough to not be a total pussy (or end up an r9k neet kek), but that will also require active guidance beyond screaming at them like a caveman and actually showing why some things are wrong, how you should do xyz, etc. Being perfect in that regard is a pretty steep hill to climb, but on that note many dont even bother to really try to begin with, hence why their kids are neurotic disappointments. At that point though you are looking at a blind leading the blind kind of situation, you cannot be passive with a kid either way you look at it if you dont want them to end up a fuckup or a failure.

It was just a general attitude boomers had towards the younger generation. 99.9 percent of them were like that.
