I literally joined the military and picked out the Navy in particular to get stationed in Japan and marry a Japanese woman. Instead, a month before I shipped out my drug addict manic pixie dream girl cheater ex gf came back into my life and I proposed to her. I did in 2010, but I was living in Korea at the time. I've studied Japanese vigorously since and interned at a Japanese NGO while in university, but every attempt I've made at living/working in/visiting Japan has been met with failure for a number of reasons. Plus, I just read that they're shutting down an iconic arcade in Akihabara, which I visited in 2010. They've already gotten rid of the Gundam Cafe. Japan is changing in other ways that I'm not too fond of as well.

Japan is not my cup of tea. I've been to Brasil a couple times and really enjoyed it there. Maybe someday I'll go to that place in Sao Paulo where they have a significant Japanese population.
