at what age are you actually considered an adult?

almost 23 here and I still feel like the exact same person I was as a 15-year-old going from middle school to high school

23 is young and has some adolescent vestiges but is clearly different from 15.

I just turned 23 and it's kinda weird for me to think about it too.
Like it feels like I was 16 yesterday. My life has not moved very much at all since 2018. It really feels like half the amount of time has gone by since then. Like life just races past you once you hit 18 and it's crazy.
I still feel like a teenager. I don't really want to admit that I'm not one if you were to ask me.

It's less about the number and more about milestones. Independence like living alone (but not being antisocial and avoiding people). Deciding on long term plans and working towards them, both financial plans like career and buying a home, and social/family stuff like dating, moving in, marriage. Taking on more responsibility, like getting a pet, or having children.

23 is indeed young but that is not an excuse to dawdle. The vast majority of people don't become (more) adult by being passive and expecting things to happen to them.

Make a plan. Stick to it. Learn to enjoy the work towards it, not just the destination. Make more plans for when the first ones go wrong. It always happens and you need to learn to get back on your feet.
