So I'm an intern in a big corporation in which the HR department determines wages for interns. I was supposed to get a 6% raise for getting my bachelor's degree so I had to go to a meeting with some HR woman. For some reason, she decided to give me a 40% raise, so now I'm making better money than many fully employed people in my country.
I'm genuinely confused about her decision, she doesn't know shit about what I'm doing and how I'm performing. And the same woman gave me a raise last year, even though she didn't have to. Does she just like my vibe or something? I'm not particularly handsome and I'm socially retarded.

Just shut up and take what you can get, if you keep your head down you can milk this mistake for decades.

Oh yeah I'm super happy because of it. If it was up to my boss he wouldn't give me a penny more.
It just confuses me, HR women are known to be absolute pieces of shit, but this one just likes me I guess.

Admin had budget allocated for salary rises. They need to spend it somewhere. HR does performance review (it's half passed bullshit review usually because people are lazy).
You scored high because reasons.
HR closed their part of responsibility.
Enjoy.

It's kinda more complicated. There are "pay grades" for interns in this company. You get a certain pay grade depending on your foreign language proficiency, your major in college and if you already got your bachelors degree. To get placed in the highest pay grade you need to be proficient in 2 foreign languages and major in a technical field or something like logistics.
My major is basically management, but I have a few vaguely technical subjects like "introduction to logistics" and "basic engineering". The HR woman decided that my major is technical and placed me in the highest pay grade lol.
>Performance review
My boss does those and he deliberately gives everyone low scores to justify not giving them a raise
I'm really happy that I got a raise, it just confuses me that an HR hag was nice to me.
