Do you have a genre in mind? If not, my suggestion would be any of the total war series or grand strategy (EU4/CK2/3, etc). Mainly because they have an incredibly high amount of gameplay for the price paid (unless you fall into DLC hell. Don't do that unless you're sure!)

Hearts of iron 4 online. It is the most immersive and fulfilling time suck I have ever found.

there are none, cutscene simulators are king, so they are short and the gameplay bad

>total war
These games always seemed pretty cool and I've never played them. I see they have a Three Kingdoms one... looks like my potato laptop should be able to run it too. I'll probably wait for a sale though.
>CK
I have 2 and a shitton of DLC but never really got into it. Maybe I'll fuck around with this while waiting for TW to go on sale. I didn't really like it the first few times I played it though, it's kind of slow paced like Civ and I generally like more actiony stuff. I should probably give it a more serious shit eventually since it's in my lib anyway.

Warframe is a game I've considered playing so I should probably at least try it.

it's got fun movement and you do need to remember that the process of getting gear IS the gameplay that you do need to somewhat enjoy, or the reward needs to feel like enough to justify your grind. you need to keep this in mind because a lot of the game is grinding so you can grind more

I have put 25 thousand hours into old school runescape and I'm still nowhere near to completing it. Completing it is in fact impossible, there will always be items that I need to hunt or xp to be gained. I doubt any other game is such a massive time sink

Elder Scrolls Online. There's enough story content to last you a few months. Just... don't compare it to single-player Elder Scrolls.
