There is a distinction and a difference between natural and sexual selection. Natural selection has connotations of survival while sexual selection has connotations of mating. If you want to use the absolute broadest and most retarded definition, then yeah, say that one includes the other.

A species becoming more ornate or lazy or deficient is a direct product of genetic optimization, whether females are attracted to those features or not. We have hundreds of genes for smelling things underwater which no longer function because we don't live underwater. If the environment suddenly changes too fast for the species to recover back to smelling things underwater or whatever, then yeah it goes extinct. That has nothing to do with dysgenics or the fall of rome or whatever. Not everyone needs to be as smart as Elon Musk and not everyone needs to be a short retarded tranime freak. Genes adapt to the environment, INCLUDING WHAT WE ARE ATTRACTED TO NATURALLY
