I've been dealing with one of the most unusual and lengthy cases of limerence and I'm having trouble getting out of it because I genuinely don't know if the connection I have with the person is real or not. I'm 90 percent sure it isn't real and that she has absolutely no idea who I am, but the 10 percent is what making it hard leave. Too many coincidences which just feeds into the obsession. Anyone else experienced something similar? I don't want to feel alone in this.

It's called having a crush, op. Congrats. What's your plan moving forward?

No, limerence definitely fits the bill.

It's much more than a crush.

A crush is a much more milder version of what I'm experiencing. A crush is short and fleeing where as what I'm experiencing is obsessive and intrusive, an obsession that's been going on for two years without any indication of a mutual connection.

Solution: talk to her so you can get rejected and get over it.

Are you saying you've never spoken to her? Is this like someone who you've seen in real life at least?

We used to call this a oneitis back in the day, I just recently deleted mine after several years, I still think about her everyday even though I don't mean anything to her.
Spend some time thinking about these feelings of yours, seeing how irrational they are, how it doesn't serve you to indulge them.
Either ask her to be yours or cut her out of your life, there's no other path, so choose.

Nope, all online. The one time I've reached out she explicitly told me she didn't know who I was which even when taking notes of the situation when it happened the reality check didn't hit me as hard as it did right now. It's a sad thing that I'm experiencing, it's very obvious that this isn't real, she literally told me it isn't and yet it's hard to let go. I'm running off ambiguities and it's only recently that reality has taken root of which is why I'm slowly leaning off the obsession. Jesus, I'm cringing. I can't even imagine her reaction to that message I sent her.

Like I said, I don't really know /r9k/ lingo. Limerence has the been the psychological term since the 60s I believe.
