Should I tell my therapist the suicidal thoughts are getting worse? We were already talking about it last week but they were just kind of passive then. I've never been to a psych ward before. Bad idea?

Really bad idea. They WILL forcibly commit you and they WILL give you chemical lobotomants.

psych ward is not comfortable
"good" psych wards will let you use your phone but won't let you leave early. They'll fight you if you try to sign a 3 day and leave in 3 days. The one I went to seriously tried to push ECT and again when it didn't work. Because they would't let me leave without "fixing" the problem.

Ironically, shittier psych wards are easier because they won't want to fight a 3 day. But you can't use your phone. If their book selection is trash, you can get someone outside to donate books from a thrift store like goodwill or salvation army

4-5 years ago when something really bad happened I felt very strong urges to kill myself and went to hospital. A lot happened and I don't really want to hash it out here but essentially I didn't sign the consent forms and they tried to enforce a hold for suicide attempt. I was able to get out. I do not recommend going in to get help. It is not good and you will end up with more issues than when you went in. Everyone there as patients were severely mentally ill and it would of been very bad.

Im always confused when people ask this, or when people even mention they have a therapist.
Why would you mention it? What do you think hes gonna do if you tell him you wanna kill yourself even more now? Have you no predictive abilities? Like what ELSE would he do besides lock you up in the looney bin? You think hes gonna somehow fix your shit life and make everything better to where you dont wanna kill yourself anymore?
Why are you even there in the first place? What good would you think talking to him would even do?

I mean, isn't that why you go to a therapist?

NEVER EVER SAY YOU ARE SUICIDAL. They can do an involuntary commit on you fir this. Then, the stay can be heavily extended since you are "not stable" or the meds they put you on have not had enough time to take effect.

If you feel you need to be in a psych hospital, go voluntarily. Even if you feel like you are going to hurt yourself. Never mention suicide if asked for the reason. Ask for a referral. Even then, they may keep you longer than what you wish, and if money hungry, keep you fir a long time to milk your insurance.

It can be really boring since there is nothing to do but do childish shit or watch TV. Hope you know how to keep yourself occupied. I believe at times it makes people worse off and people just feign being better just to get out.
