probably because some people just use him as their version of the news, same way we all have our online niches we like to go to whenever something's happening to make sure we know the basics without getting flooded with trash takes. once you have your habits it's really hard to switch, so he stays on the air.

I don't understand how anyone has a TV show these days. Feels like a dying medium. Only boomers watch TV and they just mindlessly leave on one channel as background noise in my experience. You could have one channel with nothing but ads, no shows at all, and I doubt viewership would drop that much.

I liked him on the Colbert report, but now he is just a liberal mouthpiece. Being a centrist comedian makes him a safe and nearly perfect fit for something like late Show Host. I wasn't surprised he got the spot, but I was pretty surprised when they dropped the late Show. Colbert will be fine, I'm sure.
