The Jews didn't want to convert because they were and are parasitic spiritual-women just like you. Materialistic, vengeful, arrogant and incapable of providing for themselves but ungrateful to anyone that provides for them. Forgiveness in Christianity isn't heckin' wholesome "you did nothing wrong because you apologised", it's a stark contrast between the filth of your existence and the fact your hope of anything good happening despite it is owed entirely to God. You do not deserve forgiveness, you are given it because your sin is not more powerful than mercy.

TL;DR divorce doesn't really exist, once married you can at best only seperate (not live together while still technically married, can still reconcile), basically the only reason you can actually divorce is if she's been a hoe and cheated on you.
That is the single sole exception explicitly mentioned in the new testament where you can compleately and with finallity divorce someone without that someone having to die first.
