Not that anon but I'm similar. I just feel I'm underachieving and I try to hold myself to high standards. I don't think I'm doing too badly and I like the way I am in general, even though other people (especially women my age) do not feel the same lol. Plus, I feel being more careful is worth it especially at my age, which it is because it's worked for me at my job so far.

I distract myself from loneliness with interests and hobbies, and alcohol distracts me from my distractions lol.

A lot of people seem naturally inclined to move forward as to not become stagnated, but I find that in a lot of cases ambition makes one fairly uninterested in romance. It's a good thing to be independent, but human connection becomes a burden and a partner an anchor to stagnation

I don't think most people are that ambitious. Or maybe it's just my shitty workplace. Plus, I think romance is a good thing. Lots of historical figures were supported by their spouses. I think it's nice to have someone who has your back, and you can achieve more with mutual support. Wouldn't it be so sweet to go through that journey together?
