Because they are mentally underdeveloped. Think about it. It's only children who are obsessed with the social enforcement of not liking things that are "for babies." Children are insecure about that stuff and will gaslight themselves out of liking something just because someone said it was "babyish" and they don't want to be seen that way.
Meanwhile, adults with spending money enthusiastically like things that are "for kids" because they have nothing to prove, assuming they aren't completely fucking lame. Imagine a grown adult getting defensive and being like, "NO, NO, I'M NOT A BABY" because somebody called their hobby "babyish." It's not the hobby that's infantile, it's reacting that way. If anything, *caring* about that sort of thing is more the mark of a child than liking something "childish" is.
When some cunt tells you to "grow up," just see her for what she is: A fucking first-grader telling the teacher in his 20's "EW, YOU STILL LIKE POKEMON? THAT'S FOR BABIES!" She has this schema in her mind of what an "adult" is, and that schema involves being oppressively boring because they only ever see it from the outside-in, and often only when they want something. Dad's a guy in a drab suit who likes, I dunno, coffee and neckties and watching the news and stuff.
Women do the same thing with men for identical reasons.
