I find it strange too, and this is coming from someone who personally wouldn't date anyone under 21 just because of preference, but it seems like a societal contradiction, a mass cognitive dissonance, that you're considered "weird" if you didn't lose your virginity in highschool but at the same time if a 20 year old dates a 17 year old he's considered a predator taking advantage of a totally innocent and sexually naive victim (obviously this concern only seems to be voiced when the older person is male and the younger one female).
I just find it really ironic how the people who, just a decade prior were tweeting "#LoveIsLove" suddenly decide mutual consent is irrelevant and some third party must intervene, either by law or by violent mob justice, to break up (heterosexual) couples because the woman is more than two years younger than the man.
Obviously I'm talking about that 16-17 range, so don't start twisting my words to accuse me of saying it's ok to fuck preteens, because that's a totally different thing and you know it.
