>Work the Graveyard shit
>Wife didn't pack me "lunch" because busy
>Eat at 24 hour open Indian food
>They also have fortune cookies and fries
>Always ask for sweet sour (normally for fries) poured on my curry
>Graveyard shift Indian guy (not the owner) speaks English fine except heavy accent
>He likes me and always adds an extra fortune cookie
>Always spells my name wrong
>"Hernie" instead of "Ernie"
>Finally correct him
>Hands me my food while he gives a mischievous grin
>Get worried and open bag in the car
>He gave me 3 extra fortune cookies and misspelled the name again
>"Hhhhernie" on the receipt
>Go there next week
>Notice a change on the menu
>"Make it Hernie" is an option
>Basically add sweet and sour to anything
>Ask the Indian guy what happened
>He explains he wrote "make it Hernie" in permanent marker as a joke
>The day shift couldn't erase it so they had to leave it
>Customers started asking for it
>They knew about how "Hernie" eats his food
>Too popular of an option to remove it the following days
>"Hernie" is now a permanent option on an Indian food menu

And so you got recognition from community and left a mark of yourself on other people.
Be elated. It's just a friendly joke.

They're pretty good and you should check them out. Those little hole in the wall places often have some of the best butter chicken or tiki malsa. If they serve any Gulab Jamun make sure to grab some of those too

I'm fine with the joke, but I don't think they realize it's one letter away from "make it Hernia"

>Tfw no frenly Indian guy who calls me 'sir' in a thick accent and names tasty food after me jokingly.
I really like it when people like that just go a little out of their way to string along some fun in the day. You met a cool guy, OP.

east indians can be some of the nicest people you'll ever meet until western civilization and racism tends to beat them down. if there is ever any festivals near you check them out. lots of awesome food and little shops. especially Kabaddi tournaments. it's worth a visit
