That's what I did kek, and I can tell you that I'm 100% clean. Before the 70s, you had to get a lengthy examination and sometimes a blood test from a specialist. People have been having roughly the same amount of sex as they have had for decades in this post-contraceptive-pill-world in which we live. I am saying that screening is better now which means that STD detection rates are much higher, and that antibiotics make it easier to cure STDs after you get them so the overall risk is lower. If an STD is something that you can identify and then cure in the span of a week, people arent going to be as mortally afraid as they used to be, and that's not to mention that if the screening process was shit in the past it means that people just had STDs and either didn't know or didnt reveal it, so the rates are lower. It's really not that difficult to understand.
