Why tf am I so weak? I weigh 95kg and I can bench 1 pl8 (135 lsb) after 6 weeks of training. This is abnormally low for my weight right? I heard the average untrained mans bench is more than that.

Who cares? As long as you're progressing it means fuck nothing if you started at 40kg or 60kg

You are not weak, the average man cannot bench 1 plate untrained, I doubt they can even go over 100 without any training. Some people even struggle with the bar at first. 1 plate in 6 weeks is actually above average progress.

I've heard similar numbers and I fully doubt it, maybe decades years ago when more men just got strong doing their jobs. Just keep working at it, eat your protein, try creatine if you wanna optimize.

The thing is that my bench is terrible but my overhead dumbbell press is pretty good (50 pounds each). So I just think I have really weak pecs or something. Yeah I'm pretty fat like 28% bf.

also if you feel the bench much more in your shoulders than your chest you might be able to improve your technique and to use more chest which should quickly allow you to lift more than you were previously after a short adjustment period

Yes, but you weigh 60kg man. I weigh 60% more than you so I should be lifting way heavier. Lifting 1 plate at your weight is like me lifting 220.

100kg is super impressive though, probably less than 5% of gym goers can even do that.

By fat how much do you weigh and at what height? I think once you can bench a plate you don't lose that even if you don't train.

bench press is a meme lift
so much is tied to genetics for the bench, in terms of your body and arm shape and how it relates to the lift

I do AD press for that
Works front delts extremely well, doesn't bother traps for next day, and still works upper chest a lot which you can never have enough of

Ill tell you now first 3 months don't matter since its mostly that your nervous system doesn't know how to respond. I started at 85kg 185cm at like 35-40 kg, i barely got to a plate (60kg) after 2 1/2 months months. Just keep going to the gym and grind it out, you can do this

>your nervous system doesn't know how to respond
This. I tried getting into lifting when I was younger, and gave up after a few months of consistent effort because I felt like a complete fuckup. My body didn't know what to do with itself, my form sucked, I was struggling with lightweight shit, and I got no satisfaction out of it. Years later I tried again, but kept at it for longer, and it eventually all came together. I shouldn't have given up the first time.

Don't let them hugbox you. According to this pretty useful site a beginner with a bodyweight of 95kg should be able to bench 67kg.

I could bench 120 lb in middle school, 180 in high school, others in high school could bench 250 or 300 but they were on football team.

Freshman year in uni I could bench 220. Right now I can probably bench between 250 to 300 I'd guess.

I was plateauing around 165lbs for my bench recently, and then I started doing a lot of pushups everyday instead of the bench for about 3-4 weeks. I finally benched again yesterday, and I was able to comfortably do 12 reps for 4 sets at 187lbs. When I hit the plateau at the lower weight I found that my shoulders, forearms, and shoulder blades were in pain, so I assumed that those support muscles were undertrained. I did about 100-120 pushups everyday over that 3-4 week period. Give the pushups a try and see what happens. Do some forearm and back training too.
