having a karen mom is probably annoying, my condolences.
my mom is a really nice lady, but i fear my bad qualities and behaviors have rubbed off on her, i don't really talk much to my family, never have, but they've seen me lose my shit and call people retarded a lot, now my mom calls people retarded all the time, half serious and half jokingly. it's a word she never used before, she never used to say it, it was only until i started screaming it and saying it all the time that she started doing it.
i don't like that when i interact with people some of me rubs off on them, i don't like having influence like that in the world it scares me.

Same but I think it's endearing in my case. My mom has become a lot more pragmatic and will not put up with bs from telemarketers anymore, she will just hang up immediately.

my mom is a crazy neurotic helicopter mother with extreme abandonment issues. she is not "based". she cares a lot about me which I appreciate but all in all spending time with her almost always ends in negative emotions. This was just one example. One time my mom got permanently banned from a barber shop when I got my haircut for graduation (I wasn't allowed to go there alone) and my mom thought they cut it too short and she made a huge fuss about it while the dude was cutting it. She refused to pay and kept telling him how shit it was. Everyone was looking at us.
Or another time when we went to a restaurant and she argued with a student waitress for nearly 30 minutes because she the mayo for her spaghetti was "too fatty"
