I work Friday and Saturday night shifts then I get two days off, but I won't be doing anything during my days off besides the usual chores and chilling. My gf is out of town so I'll probably just drink, play vidya, and bake bread. I need to start reading books again but I never do.

well they're like *the* mainstream band so i guess it makes sense. i dont think they played anything here recently. not that i go to concerts anyway... you ever been to a concert?
>a day feels like an hour now...
i've read somewhere that the reason why we feel like time goes so fast, is because we're not creating memories. when everything is routine, when everything is bad, our brain doesnt really record whats happening, so, when you look in the past and see nothing, it feels like time has gone too fast. the best way to make time go slower, is to do memorable things, that create memories, which your brain uses to recognize how much time has passed correctly.

Gotta work a half shift (8 hours for me because my job is AIDS)

After that I got a pen and paper game session planned. Wanting to send the party after a MacGuffin and get them stuck in a rough gunfight

Trying to figure out how to raise the stakes enough to force them to adapt (use their powers, get new gear, etc...) without just causing a TPK. It's a rough balance

if you mean dnd, whenever i play dungeon master i kinda make things up in the moment. if a fight is going a lot smoother than what i planned, i make up something on the fly that makes it harder, like a new monster joining or smth like that. tho i guess its harder to do when you play irl.

yes, it does in the present. but afterwards when you look back at it, it won't feel that way. at least i think so, maybe im just getting gaslighted but thinking about it the months where i did stuff like travelling felt longer than the ones where i did nothing but rot.

>you can get through it!
I do every day. Hoping to change jobs soon, but the new job I'm applying for has an extremely long and arduous process associated with it.

>you mean dnd?
Nah, it's a homebrew system I made up because Im too much of a caveman to read and memorize rule books. My buddies have all picked up on the system though because it's very simple and intuitive, apparently.

>a fight is going a lot smoother than what i planned, i make up something on the fly that makes it harder, like a new monster joining or smth like that
Sometimes I'll do that but Im trying to apply a consistent pressure rather than just fucking over the party out of the blue. More or less I'm trying to communicate "Hey, the stakes are raised. Make some sacrifices and focus on getting more power" without outright saying that.

For example, one of our guys has a power that allows him to install cybernetics without penalty and even "overdrive" them, but he has yet to install a single cybernetic and it's driving me insane. Another one is a wendigo and can transform after injury or getting a string of hits in close combat but tends to stay back and plink away at enemies with a rifle. So the aim is to pressure them into leaning into that shit.

Work on my little programming project and doodle i think. But its going to be real hard avoiding factorio as i got to a point in the game where all knowledge gets thrown out the window and you need to learn new ways which is sorta fun even if the new area is frustrating.

hm i guess so, when i think of a concert i usually imagine something like a huge stage in a open space. actually now that i think about it i've been to a concert like that too though i didnt stay long. too many normalfags...
>the present slow down
you might not like what im going to say next but: get a job it does that wonderfully and it makes the present painful too.
>did you use to travel alot?
nah. last year was actually the first time that i've travelled on my own, and far away. i went to visit a friend a 3 times in the span of the year, and those weeks whilst i was there are probably the ones with the most amount of memories in my life. i wish i could remember more but, my brain is stupid and i have terrible memory.
>hope you can make lots of good memories
you too anone. try to travel if you can, its a great way.
>>81961118
>an extremely long and arduous process
ah that sucks. i know jobs in education fields are like that, is it mayhaps something of that extent?
>it's a homebrew system I made up
ohh thats cool! to be frank, whenever i play dnd i dont really follow EVERY rule, and i think that just makes the game better for everyone. if everyone is having fun then i dont see the point of following a rulebook by the letter
>apply a consistent pressure
hmm, i understand. then perhaps you could do the opposite: create a scenario where the odds are very much unfavorable for hte party (like a horde attack or something) so that they're forced to use new strategies, and if they dont and you dont want them to die just yet, you can make up something that saves them like an npc or whatever. i get how annoying it is when players ignore mechanics you built to make the game more fun...

>dont see the point of following a rulebook by the letter
There's merit to more organized systems but I've never liked it when my fun is regimented.

>you can make up something that saves them like an npc or whatever.
I could. I try to stay away from Deus Ex Machina, but I do have some stuff set up just in case. Lately I've been lorebuilding a bunch and I'm getting back into the swing of making real boy encounters. May add some extra spice to the next one, but RNGesus seems to favor the players every time I do.

A couple sessions ago I had them fight a late game enemy (they're just now hitting mid game) and they rolled consistent 19s and 20s. I was equally impressed and angry.

No I'm not okay. I'm seriously considering killing myself, but I can't bring myself to do it. Logically speaking, I should , but I'm the type to keep trying even while everything burns down. So, my idealistic side burns out my logical mind. I'll keep trying even when I end up homeless, broke, and alone.

I really wish I wasn't born. If I could, I would prevent my own birth by any means necessary.

I'll try Godot the game engine for the first time over the weekend. Besides that, I have nothing going on except slavery without payment.

yea i agree. i think a lot of rules doesnt instantly mean bad, but there's a limit
>they rolled consistent 19s and 20s. I was equally impressed and angry.
tell me about it. i had my party fight a huge demon when they were only lvl 3 and it was supposed to be a (slightly scripted) epic boss battle but they only rolled criticals and it was basically over within like 4 turns. i had to come up with a second phase and made him grew wings to force some misses... in the end it was a pretty cool fight anyway.

>i wish nobody had to deal with memory issues
what memory issues?
>people too rowdy
i mean not really, thats not what bothers me. i've been on the outskirts of moshpits before so, i can deal with people being too close n stuff. its just that, my mind tends to wander into bad thoughts whenever i see people having fun together, it reminds me of how alone i am.
>into autopilot and disassociate

>makes those memories all the more valuable?
i like to think about it that way aswell. i purposely reminisce certain memories that i really dont want to lose from time to time, so im sure they wont disappear. but i'd be lying if i said i dont get worried i might forget everything some day.

>good luck!
I appreciate that, I'll need it.

>in the end it was a pretty cool fight anyway.
That's appreciable. At the end of the day it's about having fun and telling a good story, so I'm never mad if things "go wrong" but are still enjoyable.

>what memory issues?
um, i just meant losing memories i guess. most of my life is blank, i have major long term memory issues
>my mind tends to wander into bad thoughts whenever i see people having fun together, it reminds me of how alone i am.
oh... i understand that feeling, ya. its somehow more isolating than being alone in a dark room. eugh:(
>god i wish i could do that
its a bad habit, i make more mistakes and become even more empty-minded than i already usually am when im aware. it scares people sometimes
> like to think about it that way aswell. i purposely reminisce certain memories that i really dont want to lose from time to time, so im sure they wont disappear
hm... thats a good practice i think. have you ever tried writing the memories down too? or your feelings about them? i feel like putting stuff on paper makes thoughts and memories more solid, but i may just be insane
>but i'd be lying if i said i dont get worried i might forget everything some day.
i hope you dont:(

>hope youve been doing okay.
yeah, just reignited my love for factorio so i have been on an binge since monday. A waste of time desu but at lease i don't feel worse from it.
>hm, did that actually help you though?
I have very mixed feelings about the medicine.
I don't really feel the same effect as when i was new to this but considering that i wasn't really pushing my brain this week its hard to say. At least im a little less tired than usual i think.
>i think its okay to take breaks from thing you like
Yeah for sure. Just that you forget it in the moment and sometimes end up hyperfocusing for 10 hours three days in a row and have all of your brain drained (even without meds). I'll try to not forget that, thanks for reminding me.

Gn and cya tomorrow maybe.

>so I'm never mad if things "go wrong" but are still enjoyable.
yeah! i actually think its a bit more fun if things are less scripted. everything feels a bit more natural that way! hope you manage to make a great campaign for ur players and have fun anon

>um, i just meant losing memories i guess
it was a joke anon, i know what you meant. yknow. we both have memory issues. so i pretended to not remember your and my memory issues. please laugh now thank you
>its somehow more isolating than being alone in a dark room
yeah it honestly feels that way. i think its the worst when you feel alone even while surrounded by other people. i dont think it gets any worse than that
>i make more mistakes and become even more empty-minded
hm, i guess that makes sense. i dunno, i remember when i used to work that awful factory job time felt like it wasnt moving, so it might've been preferable to me. everyday i prayed that a huge plank of wood would fall on my head but unfortunately it never happened.
>have you ever tried writing the memories down too?
thats a good idea actually! maybe i will do that in my journal. thank you! have you tried?
>i hope you dont:(
i hope so too... the idea of getting dementia or something that strips me of my memories is honestly terrifying.

>A waste of time desu but at lease i don't feel worse from it.
time spent having fun is never wasted they say
>At least im a little less tired than usual i think.
still an improvement i guess. is it possible that you're already developing a tolerance?
>sometimes end up hyperfocusing for 10 hours three days in a row
man, i know. i hate when that happens. like it feels great when you're into it but then its like hell. hope u can manage to control it a bit more and keep drawing! good night anon.

>it was a joke anon, i know what you meant
sorry xd im a little slow sometimes these days, its funny now that i get it
>yeah it honestly feels that way. i think its the worst when you feel alone even while surrounded by other people. i dont think it gets any worse than that
ya. alone in crowds, or alone even in a group you dont quite fit in. its a soulcrushing loneliness
>i dunno, i remember when i used to work that awful factory job time felt like it wasnt moving, so it might've been preferable to me
that makes sense, it takes time for the autopilot to kick in for me, so my first few weeks at a job are like that. but also more stressful cus if the autopilot takes over too soon itll make learning things harder and ppl hate me.
>thats a good idea actually! maybe i will do that in my journal. thank you! have you tried?
yes!!! it helps alot, i have a normal journal and a gratitude journal, tho i fail some days to do the latter
>the idea of getting dementia or something that strips me of my memories is honestly terrifying.
ya:( well anon, good night. i hope you sleep well and have a good day tomorrow.
