Honestly, phones are great. Amazing piece of technology. GPS, calculator, flashlight, and the ability to reach out to your friends and family from anywhere in the world? Goddamn stellar.
It's social media and "the internet" that are awful.
The internet being in quotes because the internet itself is not awful, but what we use it for is. Ads, porn, privacy invasion/loss, and of course there are no shortage of people who weaponize the anonymity to bleed their vile views into the world.
