What actually happens when you tell your doctor you intend to commit suicide? Do you get dragged away to some padded cell during the same appointment?

In USA if you say specifically you are going to commit suicide imminently, yes they will call cops on you and you will get committed involuntarily.

But if you say you have suicidal thoughts, no they wont do anything, they'll just try to talk you out of it, but you have to be clear when you get therapy that you DONT want to actually do it, even if you do.

if youre in US they send you a daycare that will likely make you worse if youre suicidal

ask for partial hospitalization u just go there for a few hrs a day and get therapy and dont want to KYS
