People with "schizophrenia" who have never seen a psychiatrist (because they live in Third World countries) have similar or better functionality than those under the care of Western psychiatrists. There's also very little evidence that "mentally ill" people are a danger to the public and thus need to be involuntarily detained. Your "mental illness" is because of how society treats you. Not because you have some imaginary chemical imbalance that needs "treatment". You have a perfectly normal brain. Anyone would be acting like you if they were treated the way you were.
