ive been to one of these sort of meet up groups a few times, specifically meant to be a safe space for people with social anxiety. here is whats wrong with them:

It's not really safe to just try to befriend random guys. The anecdote I like to bring up is that reddit post where the guy went on a double date with his male friend, and the friend and the two girls ended up telling him to wait outside while they had a threesome. That's what happens to you if you just openly befriend other men.
