I genuinely don't understand how there are people in the world that struggle with accessing water. It is the most simple thing and literally fundamental to any community existing in the first place. When you settle a village, you do it on a fucking river or lake, or at the very least above an aquifer and learn to dig a goddamn well.

So all these african communities that don't have water, what are they doing? Why do they live five miles from a water source and carry it on their heads, rather than just build their huts next to the water source? And with that picture, why does a White guy have to come over and build a fancy pump. If there is groundwater, why can't they just dig a fucking well and put a bucket on a rope like humans have been doing for 5000 years?
