Are the any 4chan like sites that aren't as maliciously evil? Spending so much time on 4chan has changed how I talk, my humour, etc. So I like interacting with anons, but I hate how seemingly willingly abrasive most anons are here. Like, people here complain about being mistreated, but they'll spit in your face if you reach out (rather than just ignoring you)

Crystal Cafe is the only site I can think of, but I imagine that's quite toxic.

No anonymous, lightly moderated site is going to be nice. You can go to Reddit and stay in the smaller subs if you want a nicer experience or sign up for a forum (Spacebattles is sort of 4chan-y at times if you like sci-fi). All the chan sites are toxic waste dumps though.

Of course the average person discord is not representative of 4chan at all, they are very different sites. I'm referring to servers made up of people who regularly frequent 4chan, people who are the opposite of newfags... there are people who have used the site for over a decade.
From my experience, they are identical in behaviour to those that I see on this site.
