He's demanding I get fired for "disrespect". I don't respect him, he's a bully and I'm not going to put up with it. I'm 35, not a child. Boomers are so confused when they insult people to their face and they just stop interacting with them, as if we are obligated to listen to their dementia fueled bullshit.

Any time someone insults me, I just walk away. I'm not getting into an argument with you, I'm not going to listen to you insult me, this isn't how you talk to an adult, or to anyone really.

I'm obsessed with this phenomenon. Disrespect, insubordination, "bad attitude" and these people need you to believe these things are real for them to work. Like you said, it got done but that's not what matters to these people. On one hand I know that whatever the phenomenon is, it's been deeply studied - but I'm not sure how knowledge of the dynamics involved can help you do anything about these kinds of people.

ok I just reread your post and I think it's a "fishing line" tactic. See, if he can MANIFEST your disrespect for him, he can then realize it and leverage it - like making a corporate weapon out of thin air. It works, because he's basically angry and coming after you in his head but he knows he can't do it with his body. This tactic works if you play into it, but doing what you did (respectfully refusing to engage) is honestly the only thing to do. Just walk around or something. This is why J Beterson scribbles when he talks to women because they don't have to make sense.
