Isn't the only reason Americans get healthcare through their employers government regulations? Like during WW2 there was price controls to prevent war profiteering and employers weren't allowed to raise wages of employees. So they started offering side benefits which wouldn't be effected by wage caps and those were pensions and healthcare. And then after WW2 I forget which president and Congress basically formalized this system through the tax code that Americans would receive healthcare through employer provided insurance.
