Youngsters have more vivid imaginations. But I wonder if they ever got to experience such spaces first-hand.

As a millennial child there was a very mysterious (to me) space in the basement of a mall. There was a long winding corridor just to get to it, and I never got to see what was at the end. But there were a chapel and a dimly-lit mini-mall along the way. Nobody around, it was a dead area. Eventually it was all remodeled. I don't think they make quirky structures like that anymore.

Zoomer here, I love empty rooms. I love liminal spaces. I just want to noclip into them and forever wander infinity until my biology cant carry me further.

>very mysterious (to me) space in the basement of a mall
As an X-er we had our High School prom there. Well, I did not go, but it was in the mall basement.
Its more expensive than renting a Church community room (which a Christian hating public school cannot do, I think) and its cheaper than renting a hotel-adjacent wedding reception venue.
I also went to a company Holiday party at the same mall basement.
The world needs a place for a 500 person party that's not super expensive. Sad to hear they got rid of it.
This is not unusual and I think pretty much every mall built in the 80s has something like this. There are three in my area, or within a 30 minute drive anyway.

Ghost stories are timeless, being scared of empty rooms is a symptom of brain rot.

You do realise they are not afraid of empty rooms and liminal place, but what lies inside?
Like not being afraid of the dark per see, but because of the "monsters" that could live or hide there.
