I'm half-black but I have 3c hair and got bullied for it by both my peers and (nonblack) relatives. Then they acted surprised when I told them I don't consider myself attractive.

It's extremely strenuous to style daily and look after. Easier to just hide it all up. More hairstyles too.

Because they're insanely hard to work with. It's easier for them to lop it all off and wear a wig instead. Chemical hair straighteners almost always do not work with their type of curly hair. It's why many of them used to grow afros or do corn rows.
