I'm glad I never fell for the STEM meme in 2014.
>have friends who dealt with insane levels of stress and deadlines for 4 years all so their potential jobs could get outsourced to India
>most of them are unemployed or had to search for literal years before finding an entry level position
>everyone basically admits that CS is completely oversaturated now and that the market won't ever improve
>meanwhile I got my position making almost 100k a year 6 months after getting my degree, and I'm a faggot liberal arts major
CS is probably the biggest meme ever
I'm glad our society is a jewed shithole. lol, lmao
>>82144278 (OP)I already saw the psyop in 2014, lol. It was unnatural the way companies shilled for CS. The dead giveaway was the feminist bitch "girls who code" bullshit giving away full ride scholarships to cunts back then.
>>82144278 (OP)Is it that bad I heard they're rehiring
>>82144970It still sucks and hasn't really recovered since 2020
Getting a decent job is entirely dependent on getting into a school that has a good CS co-op program
>>82144278 (OP)Same lol. Switched from CS to German (not shitting) and now I have a blue collar job that pays 120k a year. I don't even have to do labor just wear a hard hat some times and do fuck all and play pokemon mystery dungeon on my ds.
I did STEM to escape poverty once and for all
I was hoping that my STEM ass could land a nice work from home job, or even one day get a futuristic work week like 4 days a week (lmao). I don't regret that much. With every billionaire betting all on AI it seems that we are all equally fucked in the next 10 years
>>82144278 (OP)Yeah it was a psyop. The next one will probably be in medicine. Go to many hospitals and you'll see most physicians are Indians now.
>>82145137I'll say it like this, the people that go to Stanford and CM that do CS will get a job. The people that go to a random state school? Maybe.
>>82144278 (OP)What is your job you lying faggot.
This is such a fucking lie lmao.
The average CS salary is around 90k and the unemployment rate is 6%.
The market is "oversaturated" in the sense that it's adjusted to other mainstream industries after gaining popularity. What was once a major that can land you a 100k internship in your junior year is now looking for jobs the same as any other major such as finances, biology, engineering, etc.
Not only that but CS majors can branch out into so many industries, not just in IT/CS, but in EE, CyberSec, Robotics, etc.
The only down side to CS is that you should add in some certs and at least 1 big project for each language you specialize in + some minor ones scattered. It's not that hard.
And no, AI is not replacing CS for at least the next 20 years. They'll maybe replace codemonkeys but CS is about having a deep understanding of problem solving, algorithms, data structures, etc.
>>82145209>I'll say it like this, the people that go to Stanford and CM that do CS will get a job. The people that go to a random state school? Maybe. This is also a lie. Maybe for the big tech companies, but when it comes to 80% of the industry it's your portfolio that matters the most.
Yeah, new grads/future new grads are fucked. You have engineers with several YoE unemployed looking to take lower paying roles than before, basically fucking new grads. If you didn't do any internships/aren't doing internships in uni as a CS student, you are giga fucked. Projects/certs might help, but you need that YoE to compete with the fired. It's so grim. At least CS was enjoyable imo
>>82145354>Maybe for the big tech companiesso for the CIA run companies
>>82145354Which is utter retardation since the actual job is 60% corporate bullshit, 20% assisting almost finished projects with minimal input from your side and MAYBE 10% of actual coding like in college
>>82144278 (OP)took the cybersecurity pill, really enjoyable and don't have to deal as much stupid bullshit as other jobs in IT.
>>82145626What exactly are your tasks in a cybersecurity job?
Do you deal with too much corporate retardation?
>>82145656there are many areas in cybersecurity, i'm mainly focused on auditing, which i do deal from time to time corporate retardation (especially from management) but its not as insufferable as other areas, the more technical you get the less retards you face.
>>82145687So you are like a lawyer? In the sense of reading regulations and checkin whether the client is covered or not?
>>82144278 (OP)I'm upset I fell for the trades meme in 2016. I fucking hate my job and all my coworkers.
>>82145699kind of yes, but not with clients, mostly internal teams, basically checking if our systems are up to standards with regulatory compliance as well as more technical controls,.
>>82145736Oh I see
I kinda hate that real jobs never resemble school. The real stuff is kinda lame
>>82145169>German (not shitting) and now I have a blue collar job that pays 120k a year. I don't even have to do labor just wear a hard hat some times and do fuck all and play pokemon mystery dungeon on my ds.What do you do for a living?
