I'm currently locked away in a hotel room in the middle of nowhere Colorado abstaining from alcohol. I've already had diarrhea and been vomiting. This morning I've felt better and tomorrow I will be flying back home to my home in Chicago. Any recovering stories or about sobriety?

About a year ago I was probably having 10 or more shots a day. I would have 3 or 4 in the morning, go to work, have 2 or 3 on my 15, go to lunch and have a few, have 3 or 4 on my last 15, and then go home and crash out just to do it again the next morning. Eventually quit my job because of it and also cut back heavy on alcohol. Felt like shit for a week but that was mostly it. Had a small relapse this week, but it just showed me how not worth it drinking is.

This is very similar of my situation..

>drink half pint of vodka mixed with powerade fountain drink while driving to work
>drink another fifth of vodka during lunch break
>go home and drink a 6 pack of beer

Eventually I had a full blown meltdown, bitched out my boss(im getting fired soon now), yelled at my old mom, made my best friend of 22 years cut contact with me, and also said some really fucked up things to my sister which has also made her cut me off.

375 days sober. I was a cokehead but way more than that I was an alcoholic my entire teenage to adult life. By the end I was drinking a fifth of vodka every day, or two if I was on coke. Had a massive seizure and got DTs and it convinced me to stop. I've gained a lot of things by quitting but my god do I wish I could have just one more night where I get plastered.

Those few hours of enjoyment aren't worth it when the rest of the day you're sick and literally dying

It's true. And it wouldn't be just a day. If I relapse and it doesn't kill me there and then, I will continue until it does. I just want a night off from my brain, I don't know how people do this all their lives.

Damaged my stomach lining to the point I started to get lightheaded from shitting so much blood. It's funny how alcohol is legal.

Yep, had my fair share of acting like a fucking retard to my family, but that was when I was younger and drinking. The bad thing for me was my job encouraged alcoholism. My managers drank and so did a lot of co-workers. Also had a meltdown and started ranting at people are work, but my manager saved my ass on that one. Never did that again, but on the final day of my two weeks I got fucking blasted and just left early after my manager pissed me off. I kinda feel bad about it looking back cause he did stick his neck out for me a lot.

So many similar stories. I wish I could turn back time.
