Tariffs cause businesses to have a convenient excuse to raise prices even if it's not particularly affected if you really look into a company's sources for materials, most everymen do not have the means to dig into a company nor the time to do so, nor the motivation. They are too busy working to put food on the table, and having to work harder to do it.
It's easier if you look at these things as a means to make more money. That's what the world is now more than ever. Even austere living is no longer safe.

I buy stuff when it breaks and can't be fixed, or if it's something I don't have. There is no meaningful difference between need and want as far as I'm concerned. I want something because I need it for something. Maybe someone fancies themself a badass for using a hammer to drive a screw, but then there's an even bigger badass who doesn't need a hammer and can do it with a big rock. What country does 20 year mortgages? In America I've only seen 30 year for normal people or 15 years for people with bad credit. There's weird ones available if you purposely ask for something weird, like adjustable rate mortgages but usually only Canadians like those. I'm American. Avocados are bland and mushy, but that's what mexicans like. I prefer good tasting food, the exact opposite of Mexican. Something like American or French. Meat and butter with lots of herbs and spices, cream or roux based sauces, bread, vegetables.
