So you can go on Google and essentially ruin a business by marking it closed lol

Why?

Did this to one of my employers after they fired me. The place got robbed and I got punched pretty hard and asked them to cover my tooth replacement, they refused and fired me.
They actually can sue you for it, and the only legal defense that got me out of it was pretending to be retarded."Oh, uh... I thought marking it permanently closed was my personal settings. That others wouldn't see it, and I'd not get suggestions to go there when I searched for food."
Then their lawyer asked "Why wouldn't you want their food suggested?" And I was like "Well, emotionally I didn't even want to be reminded I worked there" and my lawyer (cousin, pro bono) told me that was the best thing I could say because it made it look like I wanted to forget the whole thing instead of take any kind of vengeance.
They never really recovered though, the business still exists but they can only afford like three employees. So I won twice.
People are like "How can you feel good about that? People lost their jobs." Yeah, well if the business owners cared about that they wouldn't have fired me.

next time just give him the money instead of trying to play the hero. it's only money in the end and you live in one of the richest countries in the world. it's like risking your life for a loaf of bread. sure it's bad to waste food but come on

even IF this were true, which is unlikely, the fact that it went viral means it's not gonna work anymore

Untrue, and businesses can remove any bad review they dislike. I have had many legit bad reviews I made get deleted for absolutely 0 reason. Like factual reviews with no profanity. They pay to keep their page clean.

Not necessarily but it will if people do stuff like that. Definitely speeds up the process of making the internet less free
