>want to get into art
>get art for babbys books
>try basic exercises for a few days
>give up

>want to get into piano
>get piano for babbys books
>buy cheap keyboard
>try basic exercises for a few days
>give up

what's wrong with me? am I doomed to be a mere consumer of media for the rest of my days?

try meth and try again. you'll hyperfocus on whatever you are doing.

You stop because you aren't immediately good at it, enjoy the process, not the end product

I mean, it's pretty obvious to me what the problem is.
The only thing wrong with you is your mindset.
You practiced something for a couple days and quit. How many hours did you actually put in?

See, based on what you've said I think I can safely assume you're the kind of person who expects to be good at something right away. But that's not how it works. Art is time, art is dedication, art is willingness to fail a thousand times just to get it right once.

Accept that you're not gifted. It doesn't mean you can't go far, it just means you have to work harder for it. Now get back to failing... until you don't.

i dunno anon, i think the reason people can often get decent at things like videogames but not things like art/music is because for the former, you often learn by having fun
the latter hobbies will obviously be less rewarding inherently because they're not designed to be, so you kind of have to learn to make your own fun
for piano you need to at least memorize all the notes first, but luckily you can do that sort of passively and without a lot of commitment, for art you should just try drawing things, youll slowly get better, dont try and grind exercises/studies 24/7 or you just wont have fun probably
if you can find a way to have fun you will usually get good at things eventually
also dont worry about being gifted or anything anon, with enough practice you can do what you want to do, you're never going to be unable to get better if you recognize that you can and want to get better

both those skills require discipline you will not always feel like practicing but you have to do it anyway

Ditch the books, just sit down and draw whatever comes to mind, or whatever you like

I recommend Draw 50 Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles by Lee J. Ames. You can find it on libgen. Very little reading (2 pages in the beginning), you just copy the drawings that look cool. Pic related is a very low res sample

oops. You can find a much better sample on amazon
Draw 50 horses also by Lee J Ames is also good

Fried frontal lobe, many such cases, you'll have to treat it like a routine and periodically rub those neutrons together to get better.
Slow a shit with how cooked you got but this is also the cure.
Want to make it easier? Find a problem whose solution is becoming a better draftsman or musician.
