i think all fighting arts are wonderful
knife, punching, grappling even using a gun correctly is martial arts to me. hope that gives you a fresh perspective.

so if someone was rushing me, yeah i would move offline but i would attempt to control the knife arm, wrestle their feet and drive my own knife.
obviously thats hard to envision but thats the training i was drilled on.
you should pick up a knife system book and see how much of your own martial arts would blend in there not completely but some.
even with guns, for instance in a gun fight footing and footwork is important alot of the footwork i was trained on i had already trained in martial arts. i hope that reignites your love of your art and training
