Microplastic levels have been linked to higher stroke and heart attack risk, they can disrupt gut biome, they can cause low level inflammation constantly, it is all there for you to read. Inflammation in particular combined with the other issues it causes can increase cancer risk. The evidence is already there. Nothing is done because banning plastic use would be several times harder than banning lead. We use it for fucking everything. Cars as they are right now cant work without plastics as well.
