The statistic that everybody loves to cite here doesn't say that the majority of abortions happen merely because the patient wanted one, it merely states that their reason for getting one is unstated which was the vast of cases since providing a reason for the termination wasn't necessary. Most women aren't comfortable telling even medical professionals that they were raped or had sex with their dad or anything like that, so they don't provide a reason and because of that the procedure is listed as "elective."
The few that do provide a reason on their own volition are essentially just statistical anomalies.
It's a statistic that is highly misinterpreted due to the frequency with which people make inferences where there's a dearth of information.
