Not weird, no. Like any show event you're there to see the show. You have something in common with other spectators and can even talk to them. It's good to be in a social environment.

I still go with dad. I don't even like basketball but I like spending time with him. It's honestly kinda fun. In return, he takes me and my friends to our favorite concerts.

No. You can unironically have a good time with fellow fans even if you don't know them. Fan culture is very open and social. Well at least it's over here in yurop. Don't know how it's in Muttistan
