I can't take the high ground on this since I abuse my cat for breaking the rules; but don't kick your dog, bro. Hit him on the nose with a rolled up news paper or something, choose the lesser evil. The only time I hit my dog is when he chewd my ethernet cable twice (had to buy a new one twice). He still is scared of cables today.

I don't abuse my cat anymore, he behaves, and if he breaks the rules (like going on the food table or going in the trash) I yell at him and the fear alone keeps him in line, if reluctantly (though he breakes the rules if I'm asleep and I can't do anything about it after the fact). I like my cat and he likes me (we have a bond) and treat him like a baby, just didn't found any other effective training methods for cats (and I looked). I never hurt him, just caused discomfort (pushing his nose at the trash while yelling at him for example).The dog was one mild hit to the side while yelling at him and waving the cable in his face (I was genuinely angry though, he took my internet away) I didn't hurt him and I rub his belly a lot and he loves me.

Kek my golden retriever but my hand when I was petting it so I booted it in the face as hard as I could. But I forgot I had my steel toe boots on, and its entire lower jaw flew off its head and flew at my cats head, cutting my cats entire head off its body. And my cats head rolled under the lawn mower my grandma was pushing and blood flew in her face, and she tripped over and landed on her back. And the lawnmower shaved off like easily 10cm worth of granny pubes. Shit was fire.
