Many "high IQ" people tend to view the big picture and ideal outcomes without understanding, or perhaps not caring about, the sacrifices that have to be made to reach their idealised goals. You have to understand that some of these high IQ tech guys genuinely think that, if they "get this right", they will build a world where nobody has to work again. Others just wanna make a quick buck, and others view themselves as gods.

I'm not a mega-genius, only around 135 to 145 IQ on administered tests, but I understand their mentality because I had the same mentality when I was a teenager, and frequently find myself falling back into it on my worst days.
