>decide to write a scary dystopian story warning against the decline of society and culture

What kind of novel would he write today? Antonius McLondon died in 93.

Those were supposed to be the bad actions? I thought being able to do that scott free was just white privilege?

I think you missed the point of the book. They did all that crime shit and then turned into normal adults with normal jobs. That was the scary part. It was a bleak almost nihilistic slice of life.

Pretty sure Clockwork Orange looked more at what we do with these declines and how it just makes the decline even worse

Even the UK version of the book was very different from the US due to the censorship of the entire last chapter in the US version. Get the UK version and read that, it's excellent.

>normal adults
I think the police officer scene, and desu the bits before that, show that people still hold onto the shit from their youth, easily falling back into the same pattern. Might be even scarier because they can do that and indeed immediately become "normal" again.

You forgets the parts where the youth get brainwashed as a correctional technique. Also has:
rape, robbing and killing old people, raping the old man's wife in front of him. Just a scenes to demonstrate how low they typically go.
The institutionalization, for those that didn't read the books; focused heavily on grooming the gang leader into a politician. While in jail the protag attended church because of the violence contained within the Bible.
