On paper I've loved them from afar most of my life, but I'm afraid I'd be disappointed if I ever got to live out that fantasy

Don't get me wrong, human beings have been wearing shoes for way longer than that. But it was normal for people to walk around barefoot going way back or to wear open sandal type shoes. So it was more normal seeing feet day to day, way back when.

Nowadays, most people wear enclosed shoes. Enclosed shoes only became popular to wear for the majority of the population in the last few hundred years. So we've grown accustom to not seeing feet.

So seeing a woman's feet now feels like seeing an intimate part of her body because it's normal for feet to be hidden under shoes all the time. Hence why foot fetishes are way more common now.

I'm not a footfag.
I don't think I ever have or will be able to jerk off to feet alone.
However, I can tell pretty feet from ugly/normal feet, and am aroused by skilled footwork (footjobs for example, DAEs using them instead of arms, etc. but it doesn't need to be sexual).
Since I'm into amputees, it obviously kind of clashes with being into feet in general, but ones like Rin are high up in my rankings.
I look down on footfags, but I'm no better really. I'll never understand men paying for pictures of feet ever though, for porn in general, but feet especially.

As an artist, unreasonably hard to draw. By far the hardest body part to get right, all compound curves and weird creases, and for very little return. Almost impossible to stylize too, unlike other body parts. I just draw shoes, or don't draw feet at all.
As an engineer, an evolutionary blunder. Their construction is retarded. Chicken feet are much more reasonable.
As a man, one of the less appealing parts of the body, but they are largely out of the way most of the time.
